The first BTO project in Yishun, Chencharu housing area, will launch this month and yield 10,000 new homes.

The government shared its plans to develop a new HDB housing estate of 70 hectares in Chencharu, Yishun. The development of this area will result in the creation of 10,000 new homes between 2040 and 2050, with 80% of these new housing units being public housing.

The area is bounded Yishun Avenue 2, Yishun Avenue 1 and Sembawang Road. HDB claims that the area is designated for residential use as of Master Plan 2019. The area is currently home to a number of horticulture businesses, hydroponic farms, and exporters for ornamental freshwater species.
